When last we left our friends at the Oklahoma County (Oklahoma City) Republican Party, they had been notified of an ethics investigation because donations in 2004 intended for the State Republican Party had ended up in the Oklahoma County Republican Party coffers, without any documentation in between. Now, it seems that (allegedly) the money was simply diverted between the two, easy enough as they share office space, without reports being filed. This is an ethics violation, and maybe more as State law prohibits certain transactions. Curiously, the Speaker of the State House seems to be in the middle of this.
The gentleman in question, Lance Cargill, is not saying much. It appears that in-kind contributions were not reported, that campaign limits were exceeded, and amended reports filed only after questions were asked three years later.
Dry stuff perhaps, but Republicans have been brought down on less. Stay tuned.
